West LA, continued...

The family that has fun.
A gorgeous afternoon in Westwood for the family.  Here we are, myself and my lovely husband.  Needless to say, we're just about the only people walking around this beautiful residential neighborhood. Everybody else is toiling away, figuring out how to pay for the outrageously expensive lifestyle here where in the land of the beautiful people.

Up early this morning for a trip to UCLA for Masters workout.  I was hoping to walk, judging by the map, but once in LA I realized how impossibly long the hike would be and I would never make the workout.
well?  even on Wilshire Blvd. at seven in the morning.
Once I got to the pool (Peter and Ashby dropped my off), i was duly rewarded with a quality swim team experience. About 3000 meters in a little over an hour. Friendly folks, lots of middle aged women, and simply stunning surroundings.  Ahh.

And then it was time to hit Venice and Santa Monica.  There we were, walking to the beach after delicious brunch, and what do we see but an estate sale?  I was thrilled.  The house was most certainly a piece of Old West LA.  The poor woman's own daughter was trying to host the thing herself, which almost made the whole thing more endearing to me.  I felt so lucky to be able to snoop around for a few minutes and take a breath of the place.  A few years from now the house will be completely transformed into one of the many new LA charming bungalows that exploded the beach communities.  Alas, everything dies.

And then...beachtime.  It has been so long since I visited LA, and I always forget how magical the ocean is here.

No matter how much a place changes, it has to stay the same, right?
